Jensen scores twice in Goldey-Beacom’s 5-2 win over Post

The Goldey-Beacom women’s soccer team earned its third victory of the season on Saturday with 5-2 win over the Post University Eagles.

Game Recap:

Goldey-Beacom leads by two at halftime.

The scoreboard lit up for the first time in the match in the 21st minute when Sophomore forward Maria Fonseca found the net, putting the Lightning up 1-0. Junior defender Janie Cross assisted on the goal.

Ten minutes later, Post would answer back with a goal of their own to tie the game at one.

Junior Forward Jessica Jensen made sure GBC didn’t lose the lead for long as she blasted the ball in for the score to give her team a 2-1 advantage in the 38th minute. Senior defender Miley Jones and Fonseca assisted on the play.

Jones assisted on that score, but about a minute later, she scored a goal of her own to put her team up 3-1 at the end of the first half. Senior forward Lexy Yeager assisted on the play.

The Lightning take home a 5-2 win!

The scoring party continued in the second half, as sophomore defender Stine Solvik knocked one in at the 47th minute, and Jessica Jensen scored her second goal of the day at the 50th minute to put their team up 5-1. Junior midfielder Ella Badra assisted on Solvik’s goal, and Junior midfielder Irene Freire Trillo set up Jensen’s score.

Post would score around the 78th minute mark, but that wasn’t enough for a comeback as Goldey-Beacom took home a dominating 5-2 win.
