Wilmington University’s pitching stifles Nyack hitters in sweep

The Wilmington University baseball team’s bats and pitching were on point today as the team scored 14 runs and kept the Nyack College Warriors only at two runs in the doubleheader on Monday. Wilmington won the first game 9-0 and came away victorious in the second game 5-2.

We will talk about both games, but first up is the early 9-0, winner!

Game One stats:

RBIs: Sophomore second baseman Erik Grady led the team in RBIs in the win with three.

Runs: Senior outfield John Mead led the team in runs scored with three.

Hits: Wilmington had a total of nine hits in the game. Mead and sophomore catcher Jack McDonald led the team in hits in the win with two.

Home Runs: McDonald and Grady each hit a home run in the win.

Stolen bases: Redshirt senior right fielder Quintin Ivy, sophomore third baseman Shawn Haut, and Mead each stole a base in the game.


Pitching: On the pitching side, senior starting pitcher Ryan Sandberg went seven innings, gave up two hits, ten strikeouts, and earned the win.
