The Wilmington University men’s basketball team earned their 12th win of the season on Tuesday as they defeated the Chestnut Hill College Griffins 69-67. Wilmington would win this game in the late seconds of the second half as senior guard Randy Rickards made a layup with seven seconds left to seal the victory.
Randy Rickards led the Wildcats in scoring in the win with 16 points. He also had a double-double in the game with ten rebounds.
Three other Wildcats who scored in double digits in the win were junior guard Amiri Stewart (15), senior guard Justin Thomas (14), and junior guard Taalib Holloman (10).
WilmU had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included fast break points (11-10), points in the paint (36-28), second chance points (17-13), points off of turnovers (20-6), turnovers (8-12), assists (13-11), blocks (9-1), and steals (8-3).
Wilmington University also had the advantage in shooting, with the team shooting 39.1% (27-69) and Chestnut Hill shooting 38.8%(26-67). The Wildcats also bested the Griffins from the three-point line, with the team shooting 30.0%(6-20) and Chestnut Hill shooting 26.9%(7-26).
