Wilmington University earns 15th win of the season with split against West Chester

The Wilmington University softball team earned a split on Tuesday in their doubleheader, as the team lost the first game 8-7 and came away with the 8-2 victory in the second game.

Let’s talk about the 8-2 win!

SB Final (G2) | #WilmUSoftball 8 – West Chester 2. WU now 15-11. WP – Rocha (3-1). Lopez and Comer with 2 RBI each. Lopez, Comer, Zimmerman all with doubles. Lexi Moore 2 hits. Lopez and Comer with 3 hits each.

Game Two stats:

RBIs: Graduate student shortstop Lauren Lopez and senior first baseman Kiersten Comer led the team in RBIs with two.

Runs: Lopez, sophomore pitcher/second baseman Haley Downin, sophomore third baseman Lexi Moore, and senior outfielder Taylor Gillis led the team in runs scored with two.

Hits: Wilmington had a total of ten hits in the game. Comer and Lopez led the team in hits in the win with three.

Stolen bases: Moore, and Comer each stole a base in the win.

Pitching: On the pitching side, sophomore starting pitcher Renamarie Rocha went seven innings, gave up ten hits, two runs, two earned runs, two strikeouts, one home run, and earned the win.
