The Wilmington University softball team had a lot of power in their bats today, as the team scored 26 runs in the sweep of their doubleheader against the Goldey-Beacom College Lightning. Wilmington won the first game 10-1 and came away victorious 16-5 in the second game.
We will talk about both games, but first up is the early 10-1 winner!
Game One stats:
RBIs: Freshman catcher/outfielder Tristyn Stewart, sophomore infielder Danielle Hess, and graduate student outfielder Courtney Dellinger led the team in RBIs in the win with two.
Runs: Sophomore first baseman Sara Miller, Hess, and Stewart led the team in runs scored with two.
Hits: Wilmington had a total of four hits in the game. Stewart led the team in hits in the win with two.
Stolen bases: Freshman outfielder Gabbie Saucedo, Miller, and freshman catcher/third baseman Emma Zimmerman each stole a base in the win.
Pitching: On the pitching side, freshman starting pitcher Kylee Gunkel went five innings, gave up two hits, one runs, one earned run, one walk, four strikeouts, and earned the win.
