The Goldey-Beacom College baseball team earned a split on Sunday in the doubleheader versus the Post University Eagles. The Lightning won the first game 4-2 and dropped the second 14-5.

RBIs: Kyle Walker would lead the team in RBIs with one in the win.
Runs: Johnny Kampes, Darin Miller, Demetrius Johnson, and Jake Vitale also led the team in runs with one in the game.
Hits: Walker, Johnson, Marlon Lindsey Jr, and Kampes would lead the team in hits, with one in the win.
Stolen bases: Kampes would lead the team in stolen bases with one.
Game one Recap:
Pitching controlled the game for the first three innings of this one, as neither lineup could muster up a hit.
In the top of the fourth inning, the silence of the batters would end in a bang, with Matt Goehrig hitting a solo home run to give Post a 1-0 lead.
The Eagles would push in another run in the top of the fifth inning to extend their advantage to 2-0.
Goldey-Beacom’s lineup would wake up in the bottom of the fifth inning, where the team scored four runs on two hits and two errors.
Junior outfielder Demetrius Johnson would start the inning off by hitting a double down the right side of the field. Johnson would score on the next play when sophomore infielder Jake Vitale would reach first base on a throwing error by Post’s pitcher.
Three batters later, junior third baseman Kyle Walker hit an RBI bunt single to the pitcher to tie the game at two. Walker would score three plays later on a throwing error from the Eagles pitcher.
On the very next play, a wild pitch would allow junior infielder Darin Miller to reach home to give the Lightning a 4-2 advantage.
GBC’s pitching would take them the rest of the way to take home a 4-2 victory over Post.
Pitching recap:
Junior pitcher Jake Kelchner pitched a gem in this win, as he went six innings, gave up three hits, two runs, two earned runs, four walks, three strikeouts, and earned the win.
Sophomore pitcher Alex Hinton would close out the game, as he went one inning, gave up one hit, two strikeouts, and earned the save.
