The University of Delaware women’s basketball team ended 2022 with a bang, as the team defeated the Hofstra University Pride 77-65 on Friday.
Senior center Klarke Sconiers was the leading scorer for the Hens in the win, as she had 21 points.
Three other Hens players who scored in double-digits were Graduate student guard Kharis Idom (16), fifth-year guard Jewel Smalls (13), and fifth-year guard/forward Makayla Pippin (13).
Freshman guard Nakiyah Mays-Prince dished out the assists in this game, as she led the team with 11.
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (28-24), points off of turnovers (23-19), second-chance points (8-7), fast-break points (16-2), rebounds (42-33), assists (19-17), turnovers (16-21), and steals (11-4).
UD also had the advantage in shooting, with the team shooting 46.8% (29-62) and Hofstra shooting 43.6% ( 24-55). Delaware was also the better team at the free-throw line in this game, as the team shot 55.0 %(11-20), and the Pride shot 41.2 % (7-17).
