Six Blue Hens score in double-digits in a 77-67 win over Northeastern

The University of Delaware women’s basketball team earned their 12th win of the season on Sunday with a 77-67 victory over the Northeastern University Howlin Huskies.

Freshman guard Nakiyah Mays-Prince and junior guard Tara Cousins led the team in scoring in the win with 14 points.

Four other Hens players who scored in double-digits were Graduate student forward Demi Burdick (12), fifth-year guard Jewel Smalls (10), sophomore forward Michelle Ojo (13), and junior guard/forward Rebecca Demeke (10).

Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points off of turnovers (21-20), bench points (37-12), turnovers (15-23), and steals (10-8).

Delaware also had the advantage in shooting, with the team shooting 43.3 % (29-67) and Northeastern shooting 39.1 % ( 27-69). The Blue Hens also bested the Huskies from the three-point line, with the team shooting 35.3 %(6-17) and Northeastern shooting 21.1 %(4-19). Delaware was also the better team at the free-throw line in this game, as the team shot 76.5 %(13-17), and the Huskies shot 75.0 % (9-12).
