The Wilmington University softball team earned a split on Friday with a 4-3 win in the first game and would lose 3-2 in the second matchup with Millersville University Marauders.
Let’s talk about the game one 4-3 winner!
Game stats:
RBIs: Sophomore pitcher/ second baseman Haley Downin led the way in RBIs, as she had two. Graduate student third baseman Lauren Lopez also had one RBI in the win.
Hits: Wilmington had a total of 11 hits in the game. Sophomore outfielder Taylor Gillis, Downin, and sophomore outfielder Isabella Eleazar all led the way with two hits each.
Stolen bases: Sophomore third baseman/outfielder Sara Miller (1), Gillis (1), Downin (2), and freshman catcher Tristyn Stewart (1) each stole a base in the win.
Pitching: On the pitching side, starting pitcher, freshman pitcher Kylee Gunkel went five innings, gave up three hits, two runs, two earned runs, seven walks, seven strikeouts, one home run, and earned the win.
Sophomore Pitcher Molly Dill would enter the game in the sixth inning for Gunkel, as she gave up one hit, one run, one earned run, and one walk.
Sophomore pitcher Renamarie Rocha would close out the game by going two innings, giving up one walk, and two strikeouts.
