The University of Delaware men’s basketball team earned their 16th win of the season on Thursday as the team defeated the Northeastern University Howlin Huskies 74-61. Thursday’s win moves the Blue Hens to a 7-4 record in the CAA.
The leading scorer for the Blue Hens in the win was fifth-year guard Kevin Anderson, who scored 22 points.
Three other Blue Hens players who scored in double digits were junior guard Jameer Nelson Jr. (18), sophomore forward Andrew Carr (14), and redshirt freshman Jyare Davis (12).
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in this game, which included points in the paint (50-24), points off of turnovers (26-3), second-chance points (14-12), fast-break points (4-1), assists (14-12), turnovers (9-16), blocks (4-2), and steals (9-4).
Blue Hens also had the advantage of shooting as well, with the team shooting 60.0 %( 33-55) and with Northeastern shooting 39.6%( 21-53). Delaware also bested the Huskies at the three-point line as the team shot 42.9%(6-14), and Northeastern shot 38.1%(8-21).
