The University of Delaware men’s basketball team earned the 17th win of the season on Monday as the team defeated the James Madison University Dukes 81-60.
The leading scorer for the Blue Hens in the win was junior guard Jameer Nelson Jr., who scored a career-high 30 points.
Redshirt freshman Jyare Davis recorded a double-double in the win with 14 rebounds and 14 points.
Fifth-year guard Kevin Anderson also scored in double-digits in the game with 12 points.
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in this game, which included points in the paint (32-30), points off turnovers (20-6), rebounds (37-33), assists (17-8), turnovers (7-11), and steals (7-6).
Blue Hens also had the advantage in shooting as well, with the team shooting 48.3 % (29-60) and with James Madison shooting 37.3 % (22-59). The Hens bested the Dukes from the three-point line as well, with the team shooting 34.5%(10-29) and James Madison shooting 33.3 %(5-15). Delaware was also the better team at the free-throw line in this game as the team shot 100.0%(13-13), and the Dukes shot 64.7% (11-17).
