The University of Delaware men’s basketball team earned their 18th win of the season on Thursday with a 71-62 win over the Elon University Phoenix.
The leading scorer for the Blue Hens in the win was junior guard Jameer Nelson Jr., who scored 17 points.
Redshirt freshman Jyare Davis recorded his second straight double-double as he had 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Two other Blue Hens players who scored in double digits were fifth-year guard Kevin Anderson (12), and fifth-year guard Ryan Allen (13).
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in this game, which included points off turnovers (10-3), fast-break points (4-3), assists (7-6), turnovers (10-11), and steals (9-3).
Blue Hens also had the advantage in shooting as well, with the team shooting 42.2 % (19-45) and with Elon shooting 34.4 % (22-64). The Hens bested the Phoenix from the three-point line as well, with the team shooting 40.0 %(6-15) and Elon shooting 18.2 %(4-22).
