The University of Delaware women’s basketball team has now won seven straight games with their 66-63 victory over the Northeastern University Howlin Huskies on Friday. It was a close one, but late points from Tyi Skinner and Tara Cousins sealed the win for the Hens. Friday’s win moves Delaware to a 17-5 overall record and an 11-1 record in the conference (CAA).
The leading scorer for the Blue Hens in the win was sophomore guard Tara Cousins, who scored a career-high 19 points.
Senior guard/forward Jasmine Dickey recorded a double-double in the win with 14 points and ten rebounds.
Sophomore guard Tyi Skinner also scored in double-digits in the game with 17 points.
Redshirt junior forward Ty Battle was the co-leader in rebounds with Dickey in the win by collecting ten rebounds.
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included second-chance points (15-4), bench points (20-0), assists (12-10), turnovers (12-16), and blocks (2-1).
The Blue Hens was also the better team at the free-throw line in this game as the team shot 87.5 %(14-16), and Northeastern shot 71.4 %(10-14).
