Blue Hens lead by 13 after one half of play
Four minutes and forty-nine seconds into the opening half, the University of Delaware would hold a slim 12-9 lead over the Dragons with 15:51 left in the first half. Dylan Painter was the scoring leader for the Hens during this time as he scored eight of the 12 points.
About a minute later, Drexel would tie the game at 12 with a made three-point shot from Coletrane Washington.
In the next two minutes and forty-nine seconds, Drexel would outscore Delaware 8-6 to grab a 20-18 lead with 12:09 left to play in the first half.
Starting at the 10:58 minute mark, the Blue Hens would go on a 9-0 run, which would give them a 27-20 lead with 8:34 remaining in the first half. Ryan Allen was the leader of this run as he scored five of the nine points.
At the 8:24 minute mark, the Dragons would go on to outscore the Hens 6-5 to cut the lead to 32-26 with 6:17 remaining in the first half.
Fast forward to the 4:11 minute mark, Delaware would go on a 7-3 run to take a ten-point lead (39-29) with 2:14 left in the first half. The duo of Jameer Nelson Jr. and Andrew Carr would score all seven points on the run. Rebounding was a factor on this run, as the team collected six rebounds.
In the last one minute and 23 seconds of the first half, the Blue Hens would outscore Drexel 6-3 to push their lead to thirteen points (45-32).
Hens win 81-77!
In the first four minutes of the second half, Delaware would outscore the Dragons 8-4 to take a 53-36 lead with 16:22 left in the game. Fifth-year guard Kevin Anderson scored five of the eight points for the Blue Hens during that time. The team also made two three-point shots during that time, one came from Anderson, and the other came from junior guard Ebby Asamoah.
Seconds later, the University of Delaware would start on a 9-4 run, which would give them a 22 point lead (62-40) with 13:45 remaining in the game. The leader of this run was Ryan Allen, who scored five of the nine points.
Starting at the 13:33 minute mark, the Dragons would start chipping away the Blue Hens lead as they went on a 16-3 run to cut the deficit to nine points (65-56) with 7:38 left in the game.
As the next four minutes and fifty-six seconds roared on, Drexel would remain hot as the team cut the lead to four points (72-68) with 2:44 remaining in the game.
The Blue Hens would halt the Dragons comeback attempt by scoring nine more points to seal an 81-77 win.
