The Goldey-Beacom College men’s basketball team earned their sixth win of the season on Tuesday, as the team defeated the Holy Family University Tigers 75-61.
The leading scorer in the win for the Lightning was junior forward Juran Ligonde, who scored 23 points.
Two other Goldey-Beacom players scored in double digits in the win, which was sophomore guard Nazim Derry (15), and senior guard Tyler Jones (13).
Sophomore forward Mattia Morini led the team in rebounds in the win with ten.
The Lightning had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (26-20), points off of turnovers (19-17), rebounds (44-39), and assists (15-9).
Goldey-Beacom also had the advantage of shooting as well, with the team shooting 41.7 %( 25-60) and with Holy Family shooting 35.6 % (21-59). The Lightning also held the advantage at the three-point line with the team having a 32.3% shooting percentage (10-31), and with the Tigers having a 24.2 % (8-33) shooting percentage. Goldey-Beacom also bested Holy Family at the free-throw line as the team shot 65.2% (15-23), and the Tigers shot 64.7 % (11-17) at the foul line in the game.
