Wilmington leads by 16 points after one half of play
In the first five minutes of this game, the Wildcats would run off to a 16-4 lead with 15:05 left in the first half. The trio of Randy Rickards, Caleb Matthews, and freshman guard Ethan Tarte would score all 16 points during that run.
Seconds later, Lock Haven would answer back with a 13-5 run of their own, which would cut the lead to four points (21-17) with 10:33 left in the first half.
At the 9:33 minute mark, Wilmington would start on a 12-2 run, which would push their lead to 33-19 with 4:34 left in the first half. The duo of Graduate student guard Danny Walsh, and freshman guard Jordan Jackson would score six of the 12 points on the run. Rebounding was also a factor on this run, as the team collected nine rebounds. WilmU’s defense also swiped three steals during the run.
In the remaining minutes of the first half, Wilmington University would outscore the Bald Eagles 9-7 to end the first half with a 42-26 lead.
WilmU wins 68-54!
In the first nine minutes and fifty seconds in the second half, Lock Haven would fly off to a 14-5 run, which would cut the lead to seven points (47-40) with 10:50 left in the game.
Starting at the 9:46 minute mark, the Wildcats would roar back with a 17-6 run of their own, which extended their lead to 64-46 with 3:15 left in the game. The leader of the run was Justin Thomas, as he scored ten of the 17 points. The defense once again swiped three steals on a run.
In the remaining three minutes of the game, the Bald Eagles would outscore Wilmington 8-4, but WilmU would still take home a 64-58 win.
