The Goldey-Beacom College women’s basketball team has now won two straight games as the team defeated the Georgian Court University Lions 66-58 on Tuesday at the Wellness Center.
The leading scorer for the Lightning was senior guard Amanda McGrogan who scored 23 points.
Sophomore forward Alexis Harrison recorded a double-double in the win as she had 19 points and 10 rebounds. This is the second time this season, Harrison has recorded a double-double.
The Lightning had the advantage in multiple categories in the game which included rebounds (35-30) and blocks (4-1).
Goldey-Beacom also had the advantage of shooting as well, with the team shooting 42.6 %( 20-47) and with Georgian Court shooting 37.9 % (22-58). The Lightning also held the advantage at the three-point line with the team having a 25.0 %shooting percentage (5-20) and with the Lions having an 11.1 % (1-9) shooting percentage.
The Lightning went to the foul line often and made it count as the team shot 80.8 % (21-26). Georgian Court shot 76.5 % (13-17) at the foul line in the game.

Goldey Down By One After First Quarter
The leading scorer for the Lightning in the first quarter was sophomore guard Reetta Saaski who had five points. As a team, Goldey-Beacom shot 41.7 % (5-12) in the first quarter and they also shot 100% (2-2) at the foul line.
Georgian Court shot 50.0 % (7-14) in the first quarter and the team shot 50% (1-2) at the foul line.
Goldey-Beacom lost the turnover battle 6-4 to the Lions in the first quarter.
The Lions roared out to a quick 12-0 lead to start this game but the Lightning would not let that quick start get them down.
Starting at the 5:10 minute mark, Goldey-Beacom would go on a 14-3 run to pull themselves within one point of the lead (15-14) as the quarter ended. Saaski led the team on the run by scoring five of the 14 points.
Lightning Goes Into Half Up By Seven
The leading scorer for Goldey-Beacom in the second quarter was Alexis Harrison who had 11 points.
As a team, the Lightning saw the basket really well in the second quarter as they shot 58.3 % (7-12). Goldey-Beacom also shot 75.0 % (3-4) at the foul line in the second quarter.
The Lions court vision seemed to dwindle in the second quarter as the team shot 30.8 % (4-13). Georgian Court also shot 50.0 % (1-2) at the free-throw line in the second quarter.
The momentum that Goldey-Beacom had in the late first quarter was carried over in the next quarter, as the team went on a 16-5 run in the early minutes of the second. The run pushed the Lightning to a 30-20 lead with 2:46 left in the half. Harrison led the run by scoring 11 of the 16 points in the run.
The Lions would outscore the Lightning 5-2 for the rest of the quarter to decrease Goldey’s lead to 32-25 at the half.
Goldey-Beacom Holds On To A One Point Lead After Three Quarters
The leading scorer for the Lightning in the third quarter was once again, Alexis Harrison who had eight points. Goldey-Beacom had their worst shooting percentage in the third quarter as they shot 30.8 % (4-13). The Lightning also shot 75.0 % (3-4) at the foul line in the third quarter.
Georgian Court shot 35.7 % (5-14) in the third quarter and the team also shot 100.0 % (8-8) at the free-throw line.
The Lions were down by 10 at one time in this quarter but the team clawed back in the game with a 14-4 run around 5:40 minute mark, to get the Lightning’s lead down to one point (44-43) after three quarters.
Lightning Get A Eight Point Win
The leading scorer for the Lightning in the fourth quarter was Amanda McGrogan who scored 19 points.
The Lightning’s shooting percentage did improve in the fourth quarter as the team shot 40.0 % (4-10)% The team also shot 81.3 % (13-16) at the foul line in the fourth quarter.
The Lions shot 35.3 % (6-17) in the fourth quarter and they also shot 60.0 % (3-5) at the foul line.
Starting at the 2:38 minute mark, Goldey went on a 11-4 run to seal a 66-58 road win. McGrogan scored all 11 points on the run for the Lightning.
Goldey-Beacom stays on the road to take on Felician on January 25th at 1 PM ET.
