Marcellus Livingston Records A Double-Double In Lightning’s 69-64 Win Vs Georgian Court

The Goldey-Beacom College men’s basketball team defeated the Georgian Court University Lions 69-64 on Tuesday at the Wellness Center.

The leading scorer of the game for Goldey-Beacom was junior guard Marcellus Livingston who had 27 points. Livingston also had a double-double on the night as he collected 12 rebounds with 27 points.

Freshman guard Nazim Derry also scored in double-digits in the win as he had 16 points.

Goldey-Beacom had the advantage in multiple categories in the game which included points off turnovers (19-8), turnovers (14-19), blocks (6-4), and steals (10-5).

Goldey-Beacom also had the advantage of shooting as well, with the team shooting 40.7 %( 24-59) and with Georgian Court shooting 37.5 % (24-64). The Lightning also held the advantage at the three-point line with the team having a 33.3 % shooting percentage (9-27) and with the Lions having a 20.0 % (3-15) shooting percentage.

The Lightning also bested the Lions at the free-throw line as the team shot 85.7 % (12-14). Georgian Court shot 68.4 % (13-19) at the foul line in the game.

Lightning Lead By Two At The Half

The leading scorer for Goldey-Beacom in the first half was Marcellus Livingston who had eight points. The Lightning shot 38.7 % (12-37) in the first half and the team also shot 100.0 % (2-2) at the free-throw line.

Georgian Court shot 33.3 % (10-30) in the first half and the team also shot 64.3 % (9-14) at the foul line.

The Lions outrebounded the Lightning 23-18 in the first half.

Goldey-Beacom started the game striking with a 9-3 lead which was led by Livingston who scored three of the nine points. The lead would not last long as the Lions tied the game up at nine with 14:57 remaining in the half.

The Lightning would answer back by hitting three back-to-back-to-back shots from the three-point line which would give them an 18-9 lead with 12:44 left in the half.

Starting at the 6:36 minute mark, Goldey-Beacom would outscore the Lions 11-8 to hold on to a 32-30 lead at the half.

Free-Throw Shooting Seals Close Win For Goldey

The leading scorer in the second half for the Lightning was once again, Marcellus Livingston who had 17 points. Livingston’s teammate, Nazim Derry was right behind him as he scored 11 points in the second half.

Goldey-Beacom improved their shooting in the second half as the team shot 42.9 % (12-28). The team also shot 83.3 % (10-12) at the foul line in the second half.

The Lions also improved their shooting in the second half as the team shot 41.2 % ( 14-34). Georgian Court also shot 80.0 % from the foul line in the second half.

Georgian Court outrebounded Goldey-Beacom 21-15 in the second half.

The second half started with the Lightning coming out on an 11-4 run which increased their lead to 43-34 with 14:13 left in the half.

The Lions would roar back in the game as the team went on a 20-6 run to take a 54-49 lead with 6:50 left in the game.

Starting at the 3:52 minute mark, Goldey-Beacom would answer back with a 16-7 run to take the lead and a 69-64 road win.  The Lightning hit nine free throws in that 16-7 run to win the game.

The Lightning stays on the road to take on Felician on January 25th at 3:30 PM ET.
