The Wilmington University women’s basketball team earned their first win of the season on Friday, as the team defeated the Cheyney University Wolves 62-42.
Graduate forward Fatou Ndao led the team in scoring in the win with 16 points. She also recorded a double-double in the game by collecting 12 rebounds with those 16 points.
Sophomore guard/forward Daja Claiborne also recorded a double-double in the win, as she had ten points and collected 11 rebounds.
Three other Wildcats who scored in double digits in the win were junior guard Trinity Brittingham (11), sophomore guard Jade Roberts (10), and junior guard Amber Washington (15).
WilmU had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points off of turnovers (14-7), second chance points (18-12), points in the paint (26-16), fast-break points (4-2), turnovers (15-17), assists (13-8), and rebounds (49-36).
Wilmington University also had the advantage in shooting, with the team shooting 35.6% (21-59) and Cheyney shooting 27.1% (16-59). The Wildcats were also the better team at the free-throw line in this game, as the team shot 72.0%(18-25), and the Wolves shot 60.0% (6-10).
