The Delaware Tech softball team is heading back to the 2022 NJCAA Division II Softball National Tournament after winning the NJCAA Region 19 and NJCAA Northeast District championships on May 17th.
Let’s look at the road back to the National Tournament for DTCC softball.
The team started the season going 9-1 in the month of March and won seven of those nine games at home. In the month of April, Delaware Tech went 17-1 and won 13 of those 17 games at home. DTCC closed out the season in early May by sweeping a two-game series against Lackawanna College.
Delaware Tech would finish the season with a 28-2 record and clinched the #1 seed in the NJCAA Region 19 Softball Tournament.
Before we get to how DTCC took the title of NJCAA Region 19 and NJCAA Northeast District championships, let’s look at some of the team’s stats in the regular season.
Offense
The high-scoring lineup was led by third baseman Macey Myers, as she batted .475 with 48 hits, 50 RBI, and six home runs in the regular season.

Then there is shortstop Carlin Quinn, who had a .480 batting average, 36 hits, and 27 RBI in the regular season.

Infielder Kylie Kruger also contributed with her bat this season, as she had a .433 with 45 hits and 30 RBI in the regular season.

Rounding out the hitters is outfielder Kandice Schlabach who had a .440 batting average with 37 hits, 33 RBI, and eight home runs in the regular season.

Pitching:
Not only were Delaware Tech’s hitters great this regular season, but their pitchers were as well.
Starting pitcher, Lauren Smith had a 12-1 record, 62 strikeouts, and an ERA of 1.80 in the regular season. Smith’s 1.80 ERA was the second-best in the region during the regular season.
Next is starting pitcher Carly Collins, who had an 11-1 record, 59 strikeouts, and 1.27 ERA in the regular season. Collins’ 1.27 ERA was the best in the region during the regular season.

Now let’s talk about the team’s road through NJCAA Region 19 Softball Tournament and eventually earning their second straight NJCAA Region 19 and NJCAA Northeast District championships.
