The University of Delaware women’s soccer team opened their 2022 season on Thursday with a 3-0 victory over their Route One rival, the Delaware State University Hornets.
The standouts in the game for the Blue Hens were fifth-year midfielder/forward Sarah D’Appolonia, freshman forward Izzy Lane, junior forward Raychel Speicher, sophomore goalkeeper Kelly Chittenden, and junior goalkeeper Mia Reed.
D’Appolonia had three shots, three shots at the goal, two goals, and one assist in the win.
Lane had one shot, one shot at the goal, and three assists in the game.
Speicher had five shots, two shots at the goal, one goal, and one assist in the win.
Chittenden allowed zero goals in 45 minutes and had one save in the game.
Reed allowed zero goals in 45 minutes and had one save in the win.
