The Wilmington University men’s basketball team earned their seventh win of the season on Wednesday as the team defeated the University of District of Columbia Firebirds. The Wildcats have been hot lately, as the team has now won three straight games.
Sophomore guard Amiri Stewart led the team in scoring in the win with 17 points.
Sophomore center Nalik Veasley recorded a double-double in the victory with 13 points and ten rebounds.
Three other Wildcats who scored in double digits in the win were senior guard Randy Rickards (10), senior guard Justin Thomas (13), and junior guard Caleb Matthews (13).
WilmU had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included second-chance points (14-12), assists (14-12), rebounds (40-29), and blocks (9-1).
Wilmington University also bested the Firebirds from the three-point line, with the team shooting 45.8%(11-24) and the District of Columbia shooting 36.8%% (7-19). The Wildcats were also the better team at the free-throw line in this game, as the team shot 94.4%(17-18), and the Firebirds shot 70.0 (7-10).
