Dickey scores 32 in Blue Hens 83-60 win over Maine

Delaware leads by four points after one-quarter of play

The game started with the Blue Hens flying off to a 7-2 lead with 8:33 left in the first quarter. The five-point lead did not last long as Maine would hit a three-pointer and a layup to tie the score at seven with 6:29 left in the first quarter.

Starting at the 4:53 minute mark, the Hens would score nine unanswered points, which gave them a 16-7 lead with 3:16 left in the first period. The duo of Jasmine Dickey and sophomore guard Tara Cousins would score seven of the nine points on the run. Delaware’s defense was also a key factor in the run as the team had two blocks, one steal, and five defensive rebounds.

The Black Bears would answer right back as the team went on a 7-2 run to close out the first quarter by cutting the lead to four points (18-14).

Blue Hens lead by four points at the end of the first half

The University of Delaware would start the second quarter off, going on a 15-9 run, which extended their lead to 33-23 with 6:14 left in the first half. Jasmine Dickey and Ty Battle would score ten of the 15 points on the run. Delaware also had the three-point shot working on the run as the team hit two. Dickey and Tara Cousins would be the ones who drained the three points shots on the run.

In the next three minutes, Maine would outscore the Blue Hens 9-2 to cut the lead to three points (35-32) with 2:19 left in the first half.

As two minutes were left in the first half, the Hens would score back-to-back buckets to expand their lead to 37-32 to close the second quarter.

Hens lead by nine points at the end of the third quarter

Delaware would come out fast in the second half as the team went on a 7-2 run to take a 44-34 lead with 8:26 left in the third quarter. Graduate Student Lizzie Oleary played a key role on this run as she had two points, one steal, one block, and two rebounds.

Starting at the 6:44 minute mark, the Black Bears would outscore the Hens 12-7 to cut the lead to nine points (55-46) at the end of the third quarter.

Delaware wins 83-60!

The Blue Hens would start putting some gas on the pedal in the early minutes of the fourth quarter, as the team went on a 15-2 run to push their lead to 70-48 with 6:41 left in the game. Jasmine Dickey and Ty Battle would score eight of the 15 points on the run.

Delaware would add 13 more points to their score in the fourth quarter to give them a 23 point win (83-60) over Maine.
