Harrison, Izumi & Round combine for 36 points in Goldey-Beacom’s season-opening 58-45 win over Saint Michael’s

Goldey-Beacom women’s college basketball is back!! After not getting to play in 2020 due to Covid, the Lightning took to the court for the first time in two years, and they would defeat Saint Michael’s College Purple Knights 58-45 in their season opener on Friday.

The leading scorers for Goldey-Beacom were junior forward Alexis Harrison and junior guard Sarah Round who each scored 13 points.

Junior guard Mone Izumi also scored in double-digits in the win as she had 10 points.

The Lightning had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points off turnovers (23-15), points in the paint (36-14), fastbreak points (8-2), steals (10-6), blocks (7-3), and turnovers (15-30).

Goldey-Beacom also had the advantage of shooting as well, with the team shooting 34.8%( 24-69) and Saint Michael’s shooting 27.5% (14-51). The Lightning also held the advantage at the three-point line, with the team having a 36.4% (4-11) shooting percentage and the Purple Knights having a 25.0% (5-20) shooting percentage.
