The University of Delaware men’s basketball team opened up the season on Saturday with a close 79-76 win against the Salem University Tigers.
The leading scorer in the win for the Blue Hens was senior guard Kevin Anderson who scored 21 points. Anderson also had a double-double on the night as he had ten rebounds with his 21 points.
Three other Blue Hens players scored in double digits, which were sophomore guard Ebby Asamoah (20), senior guard Ryan Allen (12), and redshirt sophomore forward Aleks Novakovich (10).
Redshirt senior forward Dylan Painter led the team with 11 rebounds in the win.
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in this game, which included bench points (26-5), rebounds (39-37), assists (23-15), and blocks (5-1).
The Blue Hens also bested Salem in shooting percentage by shooting 50.0 % (28-56), and the Tigers shot 37.5 % (27-72). Delaware also had the advantage at the three-point line by shooting 51.6 %(16-31), and Salem shot 36.6 % (15-41).
