Season Stats: Wesley’s Amanda Curry

Delaware Sports Blitz will be showcasing student-athletes performances from this past season each week.

Each week we will look at different colleges from the state of Delaware and showcase their athlete’s performance in the chosen sport of the week.

This week is all about Wesley’s softball team which will continue with junior utility player Amanda Curry.

Curry had a .366 batting average, .471 on-base percentage, .659 slugging percentage, 15 runs, 15 hits, three doubles, three home runs, 12 RBIs, two walks, 12 strikeouts, and four stolen bases in 16 games. The Wesley junior led the team in runs scored and home runs ( co-leader) in the 2020 season.

On the defensive side, Curry had 21 catches for 19 putouts, two assists, a fielding percentage of 1.000, and a double play in 16 games.

The Williamsport, Maryland native was among the best in the Atlantic East Conference in slugging percentage as Curry placed ninth with .659. The Wesley utility player was also first in runs scored, seventh in hits, fourth in RBIs, sixth in doubles, first in home runs and first in hit by pitches in the conference.

Wesley Opens Season With 9-0 Win Vs Keystone

The Wolverines opened up their 2020 season with a dominating 9-0 win over Keystone on February 16th.

Curry had two runs, one hit, one double, and one stolen base in the opening-day win. On the defensive side, Curry had three catches for three putouts.

Wolverines Sweep Keystone With 5-2 Win

In the second game of the doubleheader with Keystone, Wesley would have no trouble putting up runs on the scoreboard in this game either, as the team won 5-2.

Curry had one run and struck out twice in the win. On the defensive side, Curry had one catch for one putout.

Wesley Takes A Dominating 9-0 Win Over Washington College

The Wolverines would continue their winning ways on the road as the team shut down Washington College’s hitting to win 9-0.

Curry had one run, two hits, one home run, and one RBI in the win. On the defensive side, Curry had two catches for one putout, one assist, and one double play.

Wolverines Snap Three-Game Losing Streak With 8-0 Win Vs Hilbert

Wesley had 11 hits in this game and the team turned those hits into eight runs which they ended up with an 8-0 win over Hilbert on March 1st.

Curry had one RBI and one strikeout in the win.

Wesley Wins the Fifth Game Of The Season With an 8-0 Win Over Muhlenberg

The Wolverines were firing off on all cylinders, as their pitching continued to excel and the offense continued to put runs across the plate for the team. Wesley would score eight runs for the second game in a row to beat Muhlenberg 8-0.

Curry had one run, two hits, two RBIs, and one strikeout in the win. On the defensive side, Curry had two catches for two putouts.

Offense Scores 11 Runs To Take 11-3 Win Vs St. Elizabeth

No one could stop the Wolverines as this team continued to excel on both sides of the ball which again would lead them to a dominating 11-3 win over St. Elizabeth.

Curry had three runs, one hit, one home run, two RBIs, and one strikeout in the win. On the defensive side, Curry had one catch for one putout.

Wesley Sweeps St. Elizabeth

The Wesley hitters just had St. Elizabeth pitching staff’s number in this game as the team scored 13 runs in this game to win 13-0 on March 3rd.

Curry had one run, one strikeout, and stole a base in the game.

Wolverines Take 1-0 Win Vs, Cedar Crest

In this game, pitching was the star for Wesley as the staff held Cedar Crest to four hits which would lead to a 1-0 win.

On the defensive side, Curry had two catches for two putouts.

Wesley’s Winning Streak Hits Six 

The pitching held the East Mennonite offense to two hits in the entire game and the Wolverines hitters answered by scoring nine runs in the 9-0 win.

Curry had one run, two hits, one double, one RBI, and one strikeout in the win.

Winning Streak Extends To Seven With 3-1 Win Vs Wilkes

The Wolverines would have five hits in this game which the team would turn into three runs and eventually a 3-1 win over Wilkes on March 6th.

Wolverines Take A 4-2 Win Over Waynesburg

Wesley would score two runs in the first and two runs in the fourth inning in this game which eventually led to a 4-2 win over Waynesburg.

Curry had one run, four hits, one double, two RBIs, and one stolen base in the win. On the defensive side, Curry had two catches for two putouts.

Wesley Closes Season With A 7-3 Win Vs Stevenson

The Wolverines would end the season on a good note with a dominating 7-3 win over Stevenson at home.
