The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference announced Tuesday that Goldey-Beacom’s junior guard Corey Taite was named CACC Player of the Year for the 2017-2018 basketball season. Taite was also named to the CACC All-Conference first team.
It was also announced that forward Dante Thompson was named CACC All-Conference third team.
Taite is the first Goldey-Beacom basketball player to earn CACC Player of the Year.
The Sayreville, NJ native has been nothing but dominant all season which put the Goldey-Beacom player among the best in the nation.
Taite is 20th in the country with steals per game with 2.3, 11th in total steals with 67, 62nd in points per game with 19.4, and 45th in total points with 581.
In the conference, Taite was ranked 29th with 5.2 rebounds per game, second in steals per game with 2.3, and third in points per game on the season with 19.4.
Taite also made his mark in school history, especially with single-season records in which he is third in total points with 584, sixth in total assists with 104, fifth in field goals made with 177, and second in three-pointers made with 69.
The junior guard also moved into fourth place in school history with 1236 career points.
Then we have forward Dante Thompson who was a rebounding machine this year, which earned him CACC All-Conference third team.
Just like Taite, Thompson had many stats that were among the best in the nation including 71st in rebounds per game with 8.1, 77th in total rebounds with 236, and 12th in offensive rebounds a game with 3.79.
In the conference, Thompson was ranked fourth in rebounds per game with eight, seventh in total rebounds with 224, and 27th in points per game with 12.4.
Thompson also made his mark in school history, especially with single-season records which he is fourth in total rebounds with 236 and third in field goal percentage with .566.
Thompson was a scoring machine this season scoring in double figures 21 times this season and having five double-doubles to go along with that.
Thompson is also fifth in school history with 415 career rebounds.
