The Goldey-Beacom College baseball team is moving on to the winner’s bracket of the CACC tournament after they defeated the Post University Eagles 10-4 on Thursday.

Game Leaders:
RBIs: Johnny Kampes would lead the team in RBIs, with four in the win.
Runs: Dante DiSabatino also led the team in runs with three in the game.
Hits: Kampes and Marlon Lindsey Jr. would lead the team in hits, with three in the win.
Stolen Bases: Braden Kolmansberger would lead the team in stolen bases with one.

Post would get on the board first in this game as DJ Caron hit a two-run single to center field to give his team a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning.
Two innings later, the Goldey-Beacom batters woke up as they scored four runs on four hits to take a 4-2 edge.
Senior catcher Johnny Kampes would slap a three-run double to center field to give his team a 3-2 advantage in the top of the fifth inning.
Junior third baseman Kyle Walker was the next batter up, as he hit an RBI single to center field to push the Lightning’s lead to 4-2.
In the top of the sixth inning, Goldey’s bats would continue to be on fire as the team scored four runs on five hits to take an 8-2 edge.
The inning’s first run came when junior infielder Darin Miller hit an RBI single to left field to extend his team’s lead to 5-2.
Sophomore infielder Braden Kolmansberger would be the next player to step up to the plate, as he knocked a two-run double to right field to expand the Lightning’s advantage to 7-2 in the sixth inning.
Sophomore outfielder Christian Petrillo would also push in a run when he flew out to center field to put the score at 8-2.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Eagles would score two runs on two hits to cut the score to 8-4.
A couple of innings later, Braden Kolmansberger and Johnny Kampes would both push in runs, with each hitting an RBI single to give GBC a 10-4 lead in the eighth.
Goldey-Beacom’s pitching would do the rest to seal a 10-4 win over Post.
Pitching recap:
Junior pitcher Jake Kelchner went six innings, gave up eight hits, four runs, four earned runs, four walks, seven strikeouts, and earned the win.
Junior pitcher Karl Schmidt relieved Kelchner as he went three innings, gave up two hits, hit a batter, struck out one batter, and earned the save.
