The University of Delaware women’s basketball team was crowned the Women’s National Invitation Tournament Charlotte Region Champions on Monday as the team defeated the Villanova University Wildcats 77-70. The Blue Hens will now move on to the WNIT semifinals.

The leading scorers in the win for the Blue Hens were junior guard/forward Jasmine Dickey and freshman guard Tyi Skinner, who each scored 22 points.
Redshirt junior forward Ty Battle recorded a double-double in the win as she had 17 points and 14 rebounds.
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (38-30), points off of turnovers (12-7), second-chance points (13-10), fast-break points (11-7), rebounds (38-37), turnovers (8-14), and steals (6-5).
The Blue Hens had the advantage at the three-point line as well, with the team shooting 25.0 % (3-12) and with Villanova shooting 21.7 % (5-23). The Hens bested the Wildcats from the free-throw line as well, with the team shooting 81.5 % (22-27) and Villanova shooting 79.2 %(19-24).
