Game Two Recap:

Just like in the first match, it would be Wilmington who would get the scoring started, as the team scored two runs on three hits in the bottom of the opening inning.

The first run of the game came when Junior shortstop/third baseman Lexi Moore hit an RBI single to second base to give her team a 1-0 lead.

Gabriella Saucedo would be the next batter up, as she would hit an RBI double through the left side of the field to push WilmU’s edge to 2-0.

Fast forward to the bottom of the third inning, where the Wildcats batters would remain hot, as the team scored four runs on four hits.

Junior pitcher/second baseman Haley Downin would start the scoring action off by hitting into a sacrifice fly to drive a run home to extend her team’s lead to 3-0.

Junior first baseman Arianna Millan, freshman infielder Cassidy Zelano, and Tristyn Stewart would all push a run in the third inning to help Wilmington take a 6-0 edge.

In the top of the fourth inning, Jefferson would finally get on the board when Annalise Pudimott slapped an RBI single to left field to cut the lead to 6-1.

The Wildcats would respond in the bottom of the fourth inning by scoring two runs on two hits.

One of the highlights in the inning came when Gabriella Saucedo hit an RBI double down the line to expand her team’s lead to 7-1.

Junior outfielder Isabella Eleazar would score the last run of the game by having an RBI ground out to take Wilmington’s advantage to 8-1.

WilmU’s pitching would do the rest to seal an 8-1 victory over the Rams.

Pitching recap:

Sophomore pitcher Kylee Gunkel had the right stuff in this outing, as she went 6.2 innings, gave up seven hits, one run, one earned run, two walks, seven strikeouts, and earned the win.

Brooke Koehler closed the game out by going 0.1 innings, giving up one hit, and one strikeout.
