Our 2025-2026 season player review series continues with the Goldey-Beacom College women’s basketball team as the spotlight turns to Sophomore forward Lydia Betz.
Betz led the team in scoring this season, with 10.7 points per game.
When Goldey-Beacom needed a bucket, Betz would be the one her teammates would go to, as she had 14 games in which she scored in double-digits. She recorded four games where she scored 20 points.
The Pittsburgh native’s season high in points came on January 6th in a 69-62 win over Georgian Court, where she had 26 points. She made nine of her 16 shots, drained two of her five shots from the three-point line, and hit six of her eight free throws.
Betz also had her eye on the boards this season, as she was third on the team in rebounds per game with 3.7. The Sophomore forward recorded 20 games this year, where she collected two or more rebounds. Her season high in rebounds came on December 3rd versus Chestnut Hill, where the Lightning player collected nine.
She may have put up the points this season, but she also shared the wealth, as she was third on the team in assists with 1.7. She had 12 games this year, where she dished out two or more assists. The Pennsylvania native recorded a season-high five assists in two games this season.
Betz’s skills are not just on offense, as she was second on the team in steals per game with 0.9. She had five games in which she swiped two or more steals. She recorded a season-high of three steals in two games this year.
Opposing shooters did not want her guarding them as they pulled up for a shot, as she was first on the team in blocks per game, with one. The Goldey-Beacom forward had five games this season, in which she had two or more blocks. Her season-high came on January 6th, in a victory over Georgian Court, where she had six blocks.
Betz averaged 10.7 points per game, 3.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.9 steals, and one block in 27 games.
