Goldey-Beacom Men’s Soccer Team Captures Home CACC Tournament Game With 7-0 Win Vs Holy Family

Goldey-Beacom Men’s soccer team has been on quite a hot streak lately with  an eight game unbeaten streak and the Lightning was hoping to make nine straight with a win vs Holy Family, Tuesday.

The Lightning did just that with a 7-0 rout of Holy Family, Goldey-Beacom now has tied a school record with the last nine game winning streak happening in the 2001 season.

In the first half, the Lightning was on fire with scoring six consecutive goals vs Holy Family.

It all started with junior midfielder Chahin Aghrim who scored the first goal of the game around the eight minute mark with an assist by sophomore midfielder Nicolas Jaramillo. Aghrim would add another goal to his name later in this game which put his season total to nine goals scored. Jaramillo added his fourth assist of the season with this assist vs Holy Family.

Then it was junior midfielder Callum Flynn’s time as he scored back to back goals in the 12th and 13 minute of the game.

Flynn’s first goal came unassisted and he made the goal happen by scoring off his own blocked shot.

For his second score, Flynn had some help from his Lightning teammate Chahin Aghrim who assisted him for the score.

The two goals move Flynn to eight on the season and Aghrim moves to 13 assists on season.

Around the 22nd minute mark it was Aghrim time again, the junior midfielder did a awesome scissor type move to place the ball under the crossbar and in for the score which made it 4-0 Goldey-Beacom.

Earlier Jaramillo had an assist for a score and this time the junior midfielder scored a goal with an assist from Nicholas Ladeira to put the Lightning up 5-0 in the 29th minute.

Jaramillo scored his second goal of the season and Laderia moved to three assists on the season.

Around the 42 minute mark, GBC freshman Alejandro Varela wanted to join the scoring party and he did with assist from the NCAA Division II leader in assist leader Chahin Aghrim which put the Lightning up 6-0 to end the half.

In the second half, Goldey-Beacom added one last goal to the blowout with Senior Midfield/Forward Lorenzo Gama scoring one.  Mariano Pereira had the assist which was his second of the season. It was Gama’s second goal of the season as well.

The Lightning Goalies totals were Suhail Bismilla ( 0 goals & 2 saves in 45:00 minutes),Pablo Londono ( 0 goals & saves in 21:00 minutes) and Cole Lewis (0 goals & saves in 24:00 minutes.

With the win Goldey-Beacom clinched a home game for the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Tournament.

Goldey-Beacom’s (12-3-1, 8-2-1 CACC) next game is at CACC opponent Caldwell on Saturday at 11:00am.
