The University of Delaware women’s basketball team earned their third win of the season on Saturday as the team defeated the Robert Morris University Colonials 73-62 at the UPMC Events Center.
The leading scorer in the game for the Blue Hens was senior guard Abby Gonzalez who had 16 points.
One Delaware player had a double-double in the win which was graduate student Nicole Enabosi who had 13 points and 13 rebounds.
One other Blue Hen player who scored in double digits which were senior forward Samone DeFreese who had 15 points.
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game which included points off of turnovers (16-14), second-chance points (17-6), fast-break points (8-5), rebounds (40-27), and assists (13-10).
Blue Hens also had the advantage of shooting as well, with the team shooting 43.4 % (23-53) and with the Colonials shooting 40.0 % ( 22-55). Delaware also bested Robert Morris University Athletics at the three-point line as the team shot 46.2 %(6-13) and the Colonials shot 30.4 % (7-23).
Delaware took full advantage of their time at the free-throw line in this game as the team shot 77.8 % (21-27). Robert Morris shot 55.0 % (11-20) at the free-throw line in the game.

Blue Hens Lead By Five After One Quarter
In the first quarter, Delaware shot 46.7% (7-15) and the team also shot 50.0% (2-4) at the free-throw line.
Robert Morris shot 31.3% (5-13) in the first quarter and the team also shot 50% (1-2) at the free-throw line.
The quarter started with neither team getting an edge at the lead as it would just jump back and forth with every bucket scored.
At the 3:08 minute mark, Delaware would get that edge as the team went on a 10-4 run to end the first quarter with a 16-11 lead.
Delaware’s Offense Revs Up In Second To Take A 18 Point Halftime Lead
The Blue Hens were feeling it in the second quarter as the team shot 69.2% (9-13) and they also shot 80.0% (4-5) from the three-point line.
The Colonials had the worst shooting percentage of the game in the second as the team shot 27.3% (3-11) and they also shot 66.7% (8-12) at the free-throw line.
The quarter started with a mini 5-3 run from Robert Morris which decreased Blue Hens’ lead to 19-16 with 9:11 left in the half.
At the 7:51 minute mark, Delaware would head on an 8-0 run which increased their lead to 27-16 with 6:15 left in the half. The Blue Hens would hit back-to-back three-pointers on that run which came from Abby Gonzalez and Samone DeFreese.
A string of four made free throws for Robert Morris would pull Delaware’s lead back to single digits with the score being 27-20 with 4:57 left in the quarter.
Seconds later, The Blue Hens would start a 16-6 run which would give the team a 44-26 lead heading into the half. DeFreese was the leading Blue Hen on that drive as she scored seven of the 16 points.
First Half Stats
Delaware shot 57.1 % (16-28) in the first half and Robert Morris shot 29.6 % (8-27).
The Blue Hens shot 72.7 % (8-11) at the free-throw line in the first half and the Colonials shot 64.3 % (9-14).
Samone DeFreese was the leading scorer for the Blue Hens in the first half as she scored 12 points.
Dahomee Forgues was the leading scorer for the Colonials in the first half as she scored eight points.
Robert Morris Outscores Delaware By 10, Cuts Lead To Single Digits In Third
The Blue Hens had their worst shooting percentage of the game in the third quarter, as the team shot 27.3% (3-11). Delaware also shot 75.0% (6-8) from the free-throw line in the third quarter.
The Colonials had their best shooting percentage of the game in the third quarter, as the team shot 71.4% (10-14). Robert Morris also shot 75.0% (3-4) from the three-point line in the third quarter.
Robert Morris came out with the pedal to the medal in the beginning minutes of the third quarter as the team went on a 17-7 run to close the Blue Hens’ lead to 51-43 with 3:05 left in the quarter.
Delaware would outscore the Colonials 7-6 for the rest of the quarter to push their lead to 57-49 after three-quarters of play.
Free Throws Help Blue Hens Seal Road Victory
The Blue Hens shooting woes followed them in the fourth quarter as the team shot 28.6% (4-14). Delaware did take advantage of the free points at the free-throw line as the team shot 87.5% (7-8).
Robert Morris could not keep that fire on offense the team had in the third as they shot 28.6 (4-14). The Colonials also shot 50.0% (2-4) at the free-throw line in the quarter.
The quarter started with Delaware going on a mini 5-2 run which increased the team’s lead to 62-51 with 8:08 left in the game.
At the 3:19 minute mark, the Blue Hens would outscore Robert Morris 9-6 which would seal a 72-63 win. Five of the nine points down that stretch would come from the free-throw line.
Delaware heads to North Carolina to take on Gardner Webb University on December 15th at 7 PM ET.
