The Wilmington University softball team earned a pair of wins on Thursday to pull their record to 23-9 on the season. Wilmington defeated the Goldey Beacom College Lightning 5-3 in the first game and 3-2 in the second.

Game Leaders:
RBIs: Sara Miller would lead the team in RBIs, with five in the win.
Runs: Lexi Moore also led the team in runs, with two in the game.
Hits: Moore would lead the team in hits with three in the win.
Home Runs: Miller hit a homer in the game.
Stolen bases: Jess Reed led the team with two stolen bases in the win.
Game One Recap:
Wilmington would get the scoring started in this one as junior third baseman/outfielder Sara Miller would hit a two-out, two-run homer to give her team a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning.
Two innings later, Miller would continue to have the hot bat, as she would hit a double to left field to extend WilmU’s edge to 4-0 in the bottom of the third inning.
In the top of the fifth inning, the Goldey-Beacom’s bats started to wake up as the team scored three runs on three hits.
One of the scoring highlights during the time came when Chrissy Jordan hit a two-out, two-run single through the left side of the field, which cut the score to 4-3.
Sara Miller would continue to push in runs for the Wildcats, as she hit a sacrifice fly to send Taylor Gillis home to give Wilmington a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the fifth inning.
WilmU’s pitching would hold the Lightning’s batters in check for the rest of the game to seal a 5-3 win.
Pitching recap:
Freshman pitcher Brooke Koehler had a solid outing, as she went six innings, gave up three hits, one run, one earned run, three walks, hit a batter, eight strikeouts, and earned the win.
Redshirt sophomore pitcher Delani Sheehan would close the game out by going one inning, giving up two hits, two runs, two earned runs, hit a batter, one walk, and one strikeout.
