Our 2025-2026 season player review series continues with the Goldey-Beacom College men’s basketball team as the spotlight turns to sophomore guard Tre Powell.
Powell led the team in scoring this season, with 19.4 points per game.
When the Lightning needed a spark on offense, Powell was the one they looked for, as he recorded double-digits in 30 of his 32 games last year. He recorded nine games in which he scored 20 points. The New Jersey native also netted three 30-point games.
The Goldey-Beacom guard scored his season-high of 33 points twice this season, the first came on December 17th versus Jefferson, where he made 11 of his 21 shots, drained five of his nine attempts from the three-point line, and hit six of his eight free throws.
Powell scored 33 points again on March 3rd in an 88-87 win over Georgian Court, where he made 11 of his 18 shots, drained four of his seven shots from the three-point line, and hit seven of his nine free throws.
Scoring isn’t the only skill in the sophomore guard’s arsenal, as he was fifth on the team in rebounds per game with 4.1. He was locked on the boards this year, posting two or more rebounds in 28 games. His season-high came on November 30th versus Dominican (N.Y), where he collected 11 rebounds and notched a double-double by scoring 14 points.
Powell is an elite scorer, but he shared the wealth with his teammates, as he led the team with 4.6 assists per game. He had dished out two or more assists in 30 games this season. The Lightning guard hit his season high in assists twice this season, dishing out eight.
Offense wasn’t the only side he excelled on, as he was second on the team in steals per game with 1.5. Powell posted 15 games in which he swiped two or more steals. His season-high in steals was four, which netted twice this season.
Powell averaged 19.4 points per game, 4.1 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.5 steals in 32 games.
Next season, Powell will be playing for the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, as he announced the transfer on social media.
