The Wilmington University men’s basketball defeated the Chestnut Hill College Griffins 96-85 on Tuesday at the WU Athletics Complex.
The leading scorer for the Wildcats in the game was redshirt senior guard Jermaine Head who scored 34 points. This is the fourth time this season Head has scored 30-plus points. Head also recorded a double-double in the win as he had 10 assists with his 34 points. This is Head’s second double-double of the season.
Three other Wilmington players scored in double digits in the win which they were sophomore forward Jordan Harding (24), freshman guard Taalib Holloman (20) and redshirt junior guard Danny Walsh (11).
WilmU had the advantage in multiple categories in the game which included points off turnovers (25-13), steals (5-4), blocks (6-2) and turnovers (11-14).
Wildcats also had the advantage of shooting as well, as the team shot 48.5% (33-68) and the Griffins shot 42.6%(29-68). Wilmington took advantage of their time at the free-throw line as team shot 76.5% (13-17).
Chestnut Hill shot 65.4% (17-26) at the free-throw line in the game.

Wilmington Leads By 13 At The Half
The leading scorers for the Wildcats in the first half were Jordan Harding and Jermaine Head who each scored 12 points.
Wilmington shot 44.4% (16-36) in the first half and they also shot 100% (4-4) at the free-throw line.
Chestnut Hill shot 35.3% (12-34) in the first half and they also shot 42.9% (3-7) at the free-throw line.
The game started with the Griffins jumping out to a 5-0 lead but it would not for long as Wilmington would tie the game up at 5 with 17:54 remaining in the half.
At the 14:54 minute mark, Wilmington would start on a 14-2 run which gave them a 19-14 lead with 10:54 left in the half. Taalib Holloman was the leader on that run as he scored seven of the 14 points.
Starting at the 8:58 minute mark, Wilmington would outscore Chestnut Hill 23-15 for the rest of the half to give them 45-32 lead. The Wildcats hit six shots from the perimeter during that time.
Head Takes Over The Game To Get WilmU The Win
The leading scorer for the Wildcats in the second half was Jermaine Head who had 26 points. Wilmington found their shots in the second half as the team shot 53.1% (17-32). WilmU also shot 69.2% (9-13) at the free-throw line in the second half.
The Griffins also improved their shooting in the second half as the team shot 50.0% (17-34). Chestnut Hill also shot 73.7% (14-19) at the free-throw line in the second half.
The game was tight for a while in the second half as the Griffins climbed back in the game but it would not last for long. Wilmington would go on a 14-8 run at the 3:50 minute mark which would push their lead to 90-83 with 1:17 left in the game. Head was the leader of the run as he scored six of the 14 points. The Wildcats hit four shots from the perimeter on that run.
In the last 46 seconds of the game, Jermaine Head would score the Wildcats last six points to seal a 96-85 win.
Wilmington heads on the road to take on Caldwell on February 8th at 3 PM ET.
