Delaware State closes the regular season with a 68-44 win over Maryland Eastern Shore

The Delaware State University women’s basketball team closed out the regular season with a 68-44 win on Thursday over the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks.

Freshman guard/forward Savannah Brooks led the Hornets in scoring in the win with 20 points.

Sophomore forward Tyshonne Tollie recorded a double-double in the game by recording 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Junior guard Jayla Johnson also scored in double-digits in the win with 12 points.

Delaware State had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (28-20), points off of turnovers (16-9), second-chance points (11-7), rebounds (40-33), turnovers (11-17), and steals (7-5).

The Hornets also had the advantage in shooting, with the team shooting 44.4 % (24-54) and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore shooting 30.8 % (16-52). Delaware State also bested the Hawks from the three-point line, with the team shooting 36.8 % (7-19) and Maryland Eastern Shore shooting 15.4 %(2-13). The Hornets were also the better team at the free-throw line in this game, as the team shot 59.1 %(13-22), and the Hawks shot 58.8 %(10-17).
