Alexis Harrison earns 1,000 point milestone and Head Coach Bethann Burke notches 100th career win in Goldey-Beacom’s 90-61 victory over Bridgeport

The Goldey-Beacom College women’s basketball team earned their sixth win of the season on Saturday with a dominating 90-61 victory over the University of Bridgeport Purple Knights. The win versus the Purple Knights earned Goldey-Beacom’s head coach Bethann Burke the 100th victory of her career.

 Senior forward Alexis Harrison led Goldey-Beacom in scoring in the win with 25 points. Harrison also hit the 1,000-point milestone in victory, and she is the 11th player in the program to earn that achievement. 

Three other Lightning players who scored in double digits in the win were freshman guard Rory Ciszkowski (18), junior forward Janiya Stevens (14), and senior guard Mone Izumi (12).

The Lightning had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (44-34), points off of turnovers (21-14), second chance points (17-11), fast break points (7-4), bench points (41-11), rebounds (43-34), assists (14-10), turnovers (14-15), and steals (9-4).

Goldey-Beacom also had the advantage in shooting, with the team shooting 51.6 % (33-64) and Bridgeport shooting 35.4 %( 23-65). The Lightning also bested the Purple Knights from the three-point line, with the team shooting 38.9 %(7-18) and Bridgeport shooting 13.3 % (2-15). Goldey-Beacom was also the better team at the free-throw line in this game, as the team shot 77.3 %(17-22), and the Purple Knights shot 76.5 %(13-17).
