4-0: Blue Hens keep rolling with a 35-3 win over Hampton

The University of Delaware’s football team has now won four straight games to open the season with a 35-3 victory over the Hampton University Pirates.

The offensive standouts in the game for Delaware were Graduate student Quarterback Nolan Henderson, senior wide receiver Jourdan Townsend,  junior running back Marcus Yarns, and Graduate student Thyrick Pitts.

Henderson went 30 for 43 with 296 passing yards, five touchdowns, and one interception in the win.

Townsend had three receptions for 55 yards and one touchdown in the game.

Yarns had two receptions for six yards and one touchdown in the win.

Pitts had seven receptions for 61 yards and three touchdowns in the game.

On the defensive side, fifth-year linebacker Liam Trainer and Graduate student linebacker Johnny Buchanan led the team in tackles with six. The Blue Hens had three sacks in the win. They came from Trainer, Graduate student defensive lineman Anthony Toro, junior defensive lineman Ethan Saunders, and senior defensive end Chase McGowan. Delaware also had two interceptions in this game which came from fifth-year defensive back Amonte’ Strothers and sophomore defensive back Steven Rose Jr.
