Nolan Henderson lights up Rhode Island defense in Blue Hens 42-21 win

The University of Delaware’s football team had no problem scoring points in Saturday’s matchup versus the University of Rhode Island Rams, as the team took home a 42-21 victory. The Hens not only got a win over a fellow top 25 program in the country but also collected their first victory over a CAA opponent.

The offensive standouts in the game for Delaware were Graduate student Quarterback Nolan Henderson, senior running back Kyron Cumby, Graduate student quarterback Anthony Paoletti, senior wide receiver Jourdan Townsend, Graduate student Thyrick Pitts, and fifth-year tight end Braden Brose.

Henderson went 29 for 34 with 379 passing yards and four touchdowns in the win.

Cumby had 77 yards on eight carries with one touchdown in the game.

Paoletti had ten yards on two carries with one touchdown in the win.

Townsend had seven receptions for 109 yards and two touchdowns in the game.

Pitts had five receptions for 65 yards and one touchdown in the win.

Brose had one reception for 21 yards and one touchdown in the game.

On the defensive side, sophomore defensive back Ty Davis was the Hens’ top tackler with six in the game. Fifth-year defensive back Kedrick Whitehead had four tackles and one interception on the day. The Blue Hens had two sacks in the win, and they came from sixth-year defensive tackle Artis Hemmingway and junior defensive lineman Jack Hall. Last but not least, junior defensive back Nic Ware had three tackles, one forced fumble, and a fumble recovery in the game.
