Gunkel stifles Adelphi batters in Wilmington’s 1-0 win in East Super Regional Opener

Wilmington wins 1-0!

The scoring in this game started in the top of the second inning when Wilmington pushed in a run thanks to an error from Adelphi’s defense.

The second inning started with Gabbie Saucedo hitting a double to right-center field. Two batters later, sophomore first baseman Sara Miller would come up to the plate, and she would hit a single to center field. Following that play, Miller would advance to second base, and Saucedo would score on a throwing error from the Panthers’ catcher to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.

WilmU’s starting pitcher Kylee Gunkel would take the game from there as she pitched a complete-game shutout to seal the 1-0 win!
