Wilmington University earns a ticket to the NCAA DII Regional Championship with a 2-1 win over Georgian Court

The Wilmington University softball team has earned a spot in the NCAA DII Regional Championship after defeating the Georgian Court University Lions 2-1 on Friday.

Game stats:

RBIs: Sophomore third baseman Lexi Moore led the team in RBIs with one.

Runs: Sophomore infielder Danielle Hess and sophomore pitcher/second baseman Haley Downin led the team in runs scored with one.

Hits: Wilmington had a total of four hits in the game.  Sophomore outfielder Taylor Gillis, Downin, Moore, and sophomore first baseman Sara Miller led the team in hits in the win with one.

Stolen bases: Gillis stole a base in the win.

Pitching: On the pitching side, sophomore starting pitcher Renamarie Rocha went 5.1 innings, gave up four hits, one run, one earned run, three walks, three strikeouts, and earned the win.

Freshman pitcher Kylee Gunkel closed out the game, as she went 1.2 innings, with one walk, two strikeouts, and earned the save.
