The University of Delaware softball team opened the 2022 CAA Championship on Thursday with a 1-0 walk-off win against the Elon University Phoenix. The win means the Blue Hens will advance to the winners’ bracket, where the team will play UNCW on Friday.
Game stats:
RBIs: Sophomore outfielder Emily Blum led the team in RBIs with one.
Runs: Junior utility player Grace Rudolph led the team in runs scored with one.
Hits: The University of Delaware had a total of five hits in the game. Sophomore outfielder Julz Garber led the team in hits in the win with two.
Pitching: On the pitching side, junior starting pitcher Emily Winburn went seven innings, gave up three hits, two walks, three strikeouts, and earned the win.
