#1: Blue Hens clinch CAA Regular Season Championship with 80-54 win over Towson

Action over Words that is what the University of Delaware women’s basketball team mantra has been all season and the team has not only shown that on their court with dominant play but off the court as well. The team has used their platform to bring change to social injustices , which led to a bill passing in Delaware banning police chokeholds. These ladies are leaders on and off the court.

On Saturday, the Blue Hens continued their impressive play as the team defeated the Towson University Tigers 80-54 to clinch the Colonial Athletic Association Regular Season Championship. It is the first time the team has won the title since the 2012-2013 season. The Hens have also clinched the number one seed in the CAA tournament

The leading scorer in the win for the Blue Hens was junior guard/forward Jasmine Dickey, who recorded a double-double with 29 points and 18 rebounds.

Redshirt junior forward Ty Battle recorded her 15th double-double of the season with 10 points and 15 rebounds.

Two other Blue Hens scored in double digits in the win, which was senior forward Lizzie Oleary (14) and freshman guard Tyi Skinner (13).

Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (32-20), points off turnovers (15-11), second-chance points (23-15), fast-break points (11-4), bench points (25-11), rebounds (63-38), assists (12-7), blocks (7-5) and steals (7-5).

Blue Hens also had the advantage in shooting as well, with the team shooting 37.0 % (27-73) and with the Tigers shooting 29.0 % ( 20-69). Delaware also had the advantage at the three-point line as the team shot 35.3 % (6-17) and Towson shot 30.0 % (6-20). The Hens bested the Tigers from the foul line as well, with the team shooting 80.0 %(20-25) and Towson shooting 50.0 %(8-16).
