The Goldey-Beacom women’s soccer team earned its first victory of the season on Wednesday with a 1-0 win over the Felician University Golden Falcons.

Goldey-Beacom takes home a 1-0 win!
The scoreboard stayed silent in the first half as neither team could get a decent shot on net, and the Lightning’s defense held the Golden Falcons to five shots.
It wouldn’t be till the late second half that the scoreboard lit up, as Senior defender Miley Jones blasted one off the left post to give GBC a 1-0 lead and win. Junior forward Jessica Jensen assisted on the play, getting Jones that ball from 20 yards out.
Stats and standouts:
The standouts in the game for the Lightning were Miley Jones, Jessica Jensen, and sophomore goalkeeper Maria Empadinhas.
Jones had seven shots, six shots at the goal, and scored one goal in the game.
Jensen had one assist in the match.
Empadinhas allowed zero goals and had 11 saves in 90 minutes in the win.
