The University of Delaware women’s basketball team earned their fifth victory of the season on Sunday with a 62-54 win over the Northeastern Huskies.
Senior guard Rebecca Demeke led the team in scoring in the win with 24 points.
Senior forward Chloe Wilson recorded a double-double in the victory by collecting 17 rebounds and scoring 10 points.
Two other Hens players scored in double digits: senior guards Tara Cousins (10) and Ella Wanzer (10).
UD had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (28-16), fast-break points (19-5), points off of turnovers (16-15), assists (13-11), and rebounds (45-33).
Delaware also had the advantage in shooting, with the team boasting 36.7(22-60) and Northeastern 33.3(17-51).

Delaware leads by four points at the end of the first quarter.
The Blue Hens would not waste any time in this matchup, building a 16-9 edge with 3:06 remaining in the opening period. Tara Cousins, Rebecca Demeke, and Chloe Wilson confused Northeastern’s defense during this run, scoring 12 of the 16 points.
The Huskies ended the first quarter on a good note, outscoring the Hens 7-4 to cut the deficit to four points (20-16).
The Blue Hens hold a two-point lead at the end of the first half.
Ella Wanzer put the team on her back in the second quarter, scoring five of the team’s eight points to help UD hold on to a slim two-point advantage (28-26) at halftime.
UD leads by one point after the end of the third quarter.
The Blue Hens came out in the early minutes of the second half with a pep in their step, as the team outscored the Huskies 14-7 to take a 42-33 lead with 3:38 remaining in the third. Ella Wanzer and Rebecca Demeke had the hot hand during this time scoring 12 of the 14 points.
Northeastern surged back in the late minutes of the period, going on an 11-3 run to cut the deficit to one point (45-44) heading into the fourth.

It was the Chloe Wilson, Tara Cousins, and Rebecca Demeke show in the fourth quarter, as the trio scored all 17 points for Delaware to seal a 62-54 victory over the Huskies.
