Blue Hens Thyrick Pitts looks to continue his receiving yards hot streak versus the Hornets.
The Hens Graduate student wide receiver Thyrick Pitts did not have the biggest game in last week’s win versus Navy, as he had three catches for 23 yards. Pitts should see more targets this week, as he always seems to bring the fire against in-state rival Delaware State.
The Hornets’ defense has not been able to find a way to stop Pitts, as he has burned their secondary for 168 receiving yards on 11 catches with two touchdowns in the last two meetings.
The addition of Chandler Harvin, who transferred from Sam Houston State, should open more opportunities for the Virginia native because the defense may look to cover Harvin heavier because of his performance from last week, where he had three catches for 69 yards and one touchdown.
Just as the saying goes, ” If ain’t broke, don’t fix it”, and the Blue Hens should not change what has worked in the last two victories over the Hornets. One of those things is targeting Pitts often, as he will bring the yards and touchdowns in the game versus the Route One rival. If the seasoned Delaware receiver is given enough opportunities on Saturday to make plays, he could very well have around 84 receiving yards in the game. Why 84? That number is Pitts’s average receiving yards in this series.
