The University of Delaware men’s basketball team earned their fourth win of the season on Tuesday as the team defeated the Fordham University Rams 81-71 in the Gulf Coast Showcase semifinals. The Hens will now play Oakland in the Gulf Coast Showcase Championship on Wednesday.
The leading scorer for the Blue Hens in the win was Graduate Student Dylan Painter, who had 17 points.
Two other Blue Hens players scored in double digits, which were junior guard Jameer Nelson Jr. (15), and fifth-year guard Kevin Anderson (11).
Delaware had the advantage in multiple categories in this game, which included points in the paint (36-30), bench points (20-18), and blocks (3-0).
Blue Hens also had the advantage of shooting as well, with the team shooting 60.0 %( 24-40) and with Fordham shooting 35.8 %( 24-67). Delaware also bested the Rams at the three-point line as the team shot 38.5 % (5-13), and Fordham shot 28.1 %(9-32).
