Derry scores 31 in Goldey-Beacom’s 84-75 win over Bloomsburg

The Goldey-Beacom College men’s basketball team won their second game of the season on Tuesday, as the team defeated the Bloomsburg University Huskies 84-75.

The leading scorer for the Lightning in the win was sophomore guard Nazim Derry, who had 31 points. Derry was close to getting a double-double in the game but fell short by one rebound, as he had nine.

Two other Goldey-Beacom players scored in double digits in the win, which was senior guard Tyler Jones (20), and sophomore guard Mekhi Collins (14).

The Lightning had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (48-46), points off turnovers (19-11), turnovers (11-14), and blocks (4-1).

Goldey-Beacom also had the advantage of shooting as well, with the team shooting 48.5 %( 32-66) and Bloomsburg shooting 44.3 % (31-701). The Lightning also held the advantage at the free-throw line, with the team having an 83.3 %(15-18) shooting percentage and the Huskies having a 53.3 % (8-15) shooting percentage.
