Derry scores 35 in Goldey-Beacom’s 88-75 win over Georgian Court

The Goldey-Beacom College men’s basketball team earned their third win of the season on Wednesday as the team defeated the Georgian Court University Lions 88-75.

The leading scorer for the Lightning in the win was sophomore guard Nazim Derry, who had 35 points.

Two other Goldey-Beacom players scored in double digits in the win, which was junior guard Malcolm Weathers (15), and sophomore guard Mekhi Collins (14).

The Lightning had the advantage in multiple categories in the game, which included points in the paint (28-14), points off turnovers (23-22), second-chance points (16-11), fast-break points (7-5), bench points (26-0), rebounds (30-22), assists (24-18), turnovers (14-17), blocks (3-1), and steals (10-4).

Goldey-Beacom also had the advantage of shooting as well, with the team shooting 56.9 %( 33-58) and Georgian Court shooting 52.8 % (28-53). The Lightning also held the advantage at the free-throw line, with the team having an 83.3 %( 5-6) shooting percentage and the Lions having a 50.0 % (2-4) shooting percentage.
